In a stunning plot twist that has everyone refreshing Google Maps, a passenger plane carrying 49 people has gone missing somewhere in Russia’s Far East—also known as the world’s largest game of “Where’s Waldo?” without the striped shirt.

Officials say that initial attempts to call the pilot’s phone went straight to voicemail, and the “Find My Plane” app only pointed to a Siberian forest, a yak, and a very confused bear. The Ministry of Transport insisted that everything is absolutely under control, even though their primary search tool has thus far been “shouting loudly from a nearby hill.”

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a streak in the sky, followed by absolute silence, then a heated debate among local babushkas about whose grandson is bravest enough to help with the search. However, conspiracy theorists have already weighed in, suggesting the plane might have stopped for borscht or attempted a detour to check out North Korea’s latest WiFi hotspot.

Authorities assured concerned family members that search teams are “looking everywhere air exists,” excluding, of course, the one spot the plane actually is. Renowned Russian astronaut Ivana Discovered made herself available for comment, stating, “If we can put a dog in space, we can find a plane in a forest. Probably. Maybe.”

Meanwhile, airlines across the country are now considering including “Scavenger Hunt Insurance” as part of their in-flight service, along with tiny pretzels and vague optimism.

As for the missing plane, officials remain hopeful: “It’s not lost, it’s just exploring the vast Russian wilderness… like everything else out here since 1924.”

Stay tuned for updates, or at least more updates than the Russian navigation satellites can provide.
