In a shocking revelation that has the Paris fashion elite scrambling, researchers at the Banana Institute of Primate Chic have revealed that chimpanzees are accessorizing at unprecedented rates—leaving their zookeeper stylists both confused and slightly envious.

“Last season they were flinging poop, this season they’re flinging Prada knockoffs,” sighed lead zoologist Karen Mango, who recently lost her sunglasses to a particularly fashionable alpha male named Greg. “Everyone thought opposable thumbs were for using tools, but clearly they’re really for handling couture.”

Eyewitnesses at the local zoo report that the compound is starting to resemble a mall on Black Friday, with chimps parading around clutching colorful leaves, stylishly draped vines, and even the occasional tourist’s fanny pack. Tire swings have become passé; now, it’s all about the statement necklace fashioned from discarded enrichment toys.

“Greg’s got an eye for color and layering,” reported one zookeeper, nervously adjusting her own uniform. “Yesterday, he coordinated an orange traffic cone hat with a soiled beach towel cape. It was giving strong runway energy—like if Vivienne Westwood styled a middle-school field day.”

A noted chimp, Tiffany (the one with the glittery sock), has launched a TikTok account and is influencing trends among both fellow primates and impressionable zoo visitors. She’s reportedly in talks with major brands for a sponsorship deal, demanding payment in grapes and shiny buttons.

Experts urge the public not to toss accessories into the enclosure. “We’re not ready for a world where a chimp wears more jewelry than the average human,” warned Mango. “But if we must, please at least keep it eco-friendly. Last week’s banana peel fascinator was a look the world wasn’t prepared for.”

It’s official: fashion has gone bananas. Prada and Gucci—be warned. There’s a new ‘It Primate’ in town, and she accessorizes better than you.
