**Zelenskyy: Russian Forces Have Fallen Far Short of Their Command’s Expectations for Summer (and Their Beach Bodies, Too)**

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced earlier this week that Russian forces have “fallen far short” of their command’s expectations for the summer campaign. According to inside sources, the original Russian war plan was to conquer “all of Ukraine, both Baltic states, and possibly a table at the busiest Kyiv nightclub” by Labor Day.

Instead, after a brutal season of mud, mosquitoes, and motivational speeches delivered by generals over Zoom, experts say the Russians are struggling to take even a light jog without running out of gas—literally and figuratively.

“We had very high expectations for our summer offensive,” said an anonymous Russian officer. “We made detailed PowerPoints. We bought sunscreen with SPF 100. We even practiced synchronized tank maneuvers to impress Putin on TikTok. But, alas, all we managed was some very creative trench art and a record number of potholes.”

Satellite images confirm Russian forces spent much of June attempting to assemble IKEA bunkers, which, reports say, still “lack several screws and one important instruction manual.” Morale hit a new low when commanders tried to inspire troops by projecting reruns of “Rocky IV,” only for everyone to realize that even Ivan Drago lost in the end.

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine’s own summer military goals—“Have a good tan and keep Russia out”—have been consistently met. He credits the secret weapon of the Ukrainian army: ice-cold kvass and an absolutely unshakeable summer playlist.

When asked to comment, the Kremlin issued a statement blaming unseasonably warm weather, NATO, and “insufficiently inspirational bear mascots,” before announcing their new plan to try again in pumpkin spice season.

Stay tuned as Russian generals pin their hopes on a winter campaign, because as history has shown, nothing ever goes wrong in Russia during winter.
