Big news for your knees (and your extra pounds): A shiny new systematic review has found that fat stem cell therapy reduces knee pain by 44-62%. In other words, that little extra cushioning you’ve been working on since Christmas might finally be good for something, other than keeping you warm in the winter.

Researchers from The Regen Report confirmed that injecting stem cells from your own fat into your aching knees could significantly ease discomfort, raise hope, and justify at least half of your late-night snacking habits. For years, “my knees hurt” was just code for “I don’t want to walk anywhere.” Now, it means “I’m a medical innovator with a personal adipose-based pain management system.”

Dr. Linda Lipolyte, chief investigator, explained, “We’ve always suspected fat could be useful for more than just blocking arterial traffic. Turns out, it’s a real pain reliever—at least in the knees. So, really, that second order of fries might be a down-payment on future mobility.”

The therapy, however, does not come without controversy. Critics argue that “fat-in, pain-out” could spark a global surge in donut-driven health plans, as millions attempt to harvest enough stem cells for a full skeletal upgrade. A spokesman for the International Jogger’s League expressed concern: “If this catches on, the only thing running these days will be cholesterol levels.”

The findings bring hope to couch potatoes worldwide, who can now announce, “I’m saving up for stem cells!” as they avoid both the gym and their vegetables.

Experts advise against shoveling in cheeseburgers in an attempt to stockpile stem cells, warning, “Fat still isn’t legally considered a currency… yet.” But in the fight against knee pain, it’s nice to know love handles are finally getting their day in the sun.
