MINNEAPOLIS, MN – In a bold move to defend their reputation for “being there when you need us,” Allianz Life has confirmed that yes, the majority of their customers’ data was dramatically stolen in a hack—but look on the bright side: at least nothing boring like paper files were taken.

In a press release typed while vigilantly refreshing their credit monitoring apps, Allianz Life’s spokesperson assured customers not to panic about the “minor inconvenience” of having their names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, life goals, and currently under-appreciated insurance policies now circulating on the dark web. “It’s like a digital yard sale! At Allianz, we believe in sharing and caring—even if it’s accidentally with international cybercriminals,” the statement read.

While details are still emerging (“We’re searching the FAQ section as we speak,” one IT staffer said), Allianz wants their beloved policyholders to know they’re taking action by offering complimentary one-year memberships to Data Loss Anonymous and free monthly motivational memes reminding everyone that ‘It Could Be Worse.’

“The good news,” added the company, “is that no actual money was stolen, because, honestly, who among our customers still has any left after paying those premiums?” A higher-up who wished to remain anonymous (and suddenly, he really does!) added, “We prefer to think of it as our customers’ information getting out there to make new friends.”

As for next steps, Allianz says they’re “working around the clock” to fix the breach by strengthening old passwords like ‘insurance123’ and ‘qwertylife,’ and considering switching to carrier pigeons for all sensitive communications going forward.

Customers are encouraged to keep an eye on their accounts, mailboxes, and if possible, upper atmosphere, for further updates.
