In a shocking revelation that’s left the games industry with a slight pixelated smirk, Scottish developer NoCode has officially rebranded as “Screen Burn.” The move comes after what insiders are calling “an unexpected and unprecedented hiring of actual coders.”

“For years, we were NoCode because, well, we had no coders. We pretty much relied on interpretive dance and carrier pigeons to assemble our games,” said co-founder Sassy McDebugger at a press event conducted entirely in semaphore. “But now, thanks to a grant and a new LinkedIn password, we’ve hired real, living coders. Turns out, games work better that way.”

Screen Burn, best known for games that feel like Scottish weather—atmospheric, confusing, and sometimes alarming—claims that their new identity reflects both their current software capabilities and their robust caffeine abuse. “We went from NoCode to YesPleaseMoreCoffeeCode, but that didn’t focus group well,” McDebugger confessed. “Screen Burn’s got that greasy late-night credibility.”

The studio assures fans that the change will not affect their signature style. “We’re still committed to making games that are as mysterious as a Loch Ness monster sighting in a foggy alley,” said lead designer Fiona Jumpstart. “But now, you might actually be able to play them without your graphics card setting itself on fire.”

Meanwhile, rival developers are eyeing the move warily. Rumors hint that “AllArtNoSound” is considering a name change to “Bose Studios,” while unconfirmed reports suggest “GIFOnlyGames” has just hired a composer.

Industry analysts predict Screen Burn’s next release will be a psychological thriller about a web developer entering their seventh straight Zoom call, with bonus points for finding functioning Wi-Fi in Edinburgh.

When asked if the company plans to continue hiring coders in the future, McDebugger replied: “Let’s not get carried away.”
