**Saudi Arabia and France Join Diplomatic Escape Room to Recognise Palestinian Statehood**

In a move that shocked nobody but deeply confused several globes, Saudi Arabia and France have announced they will spearhead a fresh United Nations push to recognise Palestinian statehood. The duo, affectionately dubbed “Team Olive Baguette,” claim they’re determined to solve a decades-old conflict in less time than it takes to host a three-day UN summit with twelve lunch breaks.

A French official, sipping questionable espresso, commented, “We love making history, and if peace can come while also increasing our export of luxury handbags, everyone wins, non?” Saudi diplomats, meanwhile, stressed that supporting Palestinian statehood aligns perfectly with their long-standing tradition of doing things very, very gradually.

UN observers report that officials have upgraded to five new super-resolution world maps just to keep up with constantly shifting proposals. One grey-faced cartographer confided, “I’ve already drawn 42 different versions of ‘Palestine.’ My eraser has unionised.”

The real challenge may be language. “We still can’t agree if it’s ‘la Palestine’ or ‘al-Filastin’,” confessed a translator. “But we are united in sighing dramatically in every language.”

World leaders are watching closely, with some wondering if the French and Saudi ‘fast-track’ might include a cheese tasting, a falconry tutorial, or just another chance for Emmanuel Macron to flex at a podium. Meanwhile, U.S. representatives were spotted in a corner, mumbling, “Let’s see how this plays out before we have to pretend we’re interested.”

Asked for comment, Israel’s spokesperson replied, “If someone finds a really good two-state solution, let us know. Until then, we’re still crowd-sourcing one on Reddit.”

Rumours suggest the UN summit could climax with a dramatic group handshake, provided the catering arrives on time and at least one person brings a working map.
