**Reports of Explosions and Smoke Near Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant? Oh Good, Just Rush Hour**

In what local officials are now calling “Monday as usual,” explosive booms and columns of suspiciously radioactive-looking smoke were once again spotted near the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant this week. Eyewitnesses have described it as “not terrifying at all, especially if you grew up on Soviet fireworks and microwave popcorn disasters.”

Russian authorities initially dismissed concerns, reassuring the public that, “the explosions are simply our new method of celebrating the peaceful occupation: Nuclear Piñata.” A spokesman later clarified, “There’s no need to panic. And if you do, we have plenty of iodine tablets to go around—just ask your local, totally non-corrupt administrator.”

The plant, supposedly protected by experienced professionals and one retired goat, reportedly remains “stable, or at least stably unstable.” Plant operators say the sporadic mushroom-shaped clouds drifting overhead are not cause for alarm, but are in fact “just naturally occurring Eastern European weather phenomena.”

Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have suggested residents nearby adopt a new national past-time: glow-in-the-dark hide and seek. “It’s not actually that bad,” remarked local grandmother Ludmila Kolkhoz, as she watered her garden with a faintly phosphorescent hose. “The tomatoes grow huge now! We barely even need candles at night.”

The International Atomic Energy Agency, reached for comment, offered an official statement: “Sigh.” Reporters asked if the plant remains safe. Their response: “It’s still standing, isn’t it?”

In a show of unity, townsfolk are organizing a “Smoke Cloud Festival,” featuring Geiger counter races, radioactive potato sack toss, and the hit local band, The Half-Lives. Tickets are glowing fast.

More updates as this not-at-all-worrying situation progresses. Stay tuned, and remember: in Ukraine, the only thing more enduring than war is questionable optimism.
