**MP Becomes First to Create Himself as an AI Bot, Finally Able to Ignore Constituents 24/7**
In a bold leap for democracy—and questionable technology—local Member of Parliament Sir Reginald Partysworth has become the first elected official to “clone” himself as an AI chatbot. “I wanted to be more available to my constituents,” Sir Reg explained, while simultaneously arguing with his AI version over whether free biscuits should be included in the NHS budget.
Partysworth unveiled his AI persona, RegBot 1.0, yesterday during a press conference streamed both in person and on Twitch, marking a glorious occasion nobody asked for. “RegBot is capable of answering emails, dodging direct questions, performing inspiring hand gestures, and repeating vague party lines with minimal context—just like me,” the MP boasted.
Constituents reportedly rushed online to ask RegBot pressing questions, such as, “Will you fix the pothole on Maple Street?” and “Why are you following me on Grindr?” In response, RegBot provided its signature reply: “Thank you for your concern. I’ll raise it at the next committee meeting, or possibly during an undisclosed holiday.”
The creation of RegBot 1.0 has both delighted and confused voters. “I like that he’s more responsive,” commented Mrs. Edith Swindlehurst, “but the bot keeps referring to me as ‘Citizen Hashtag’ and congratulating me on my carbon footprint.”
Critics accuse Sir Reg of using technology to distance himself even further from real people, but he was quick to disagree. “If anything, my AI is helping bridge the gap between me and my electorate—mainly because I’m rarely in my actual constituency.”
Rumors are already swirling that other politicians are developing their own bots, with Parliament set to become Britain’s largest gathering of artificial intelligence since the invention of the canned response.
Whether this marks a new age of accessibility or simply sets the bar lower for real human accountability, one thing is certain: RegBot always votes along party lines—unless you buy it a coffee.
